A sculpture of the contemporary artist Mauro Staccioli.
Tuscany - SR 68, location: La Mestola. Tondo [Full circle] 2009, concrete and iron, cm Ø600x60
An enormous circle, ring-shaped and open, appear along state SR 68, on the stretch that connects Volterra to the Saline hamlet.
This sign, typical of Staccioli, run along the road on the hill, underlining one of the most trodden streets outside Volterra.
In the underground at the foot of the town hill, the inhabitants used to extract, with a rather bizarre technique, the so-called "white gold" from the salt-mines. Today, despite its slow decline, this road which, ever since ancient times, has served as an enormous, resourceful mine, still marks the lot of these places.
My second milky way shot, this time with Samyang 14mm f2.8 wide open.
The sky was very clear and the milky way shone in front of my camera :D
Some years ago, when I was a young boy that has just approached photography, I made a trip in venice with my girlfriend.
At the time, i had not a great equipment and my only camera was a little bridge with a compact zoom that in terms of quality is far away from the odiern reflex.
Homevewer, I remember that day very well: we arrived at rialto bridge on blue hour and the last light of the day exalted the intensity of the lights, the boats and the peoples that , all togheter, created an incredibile mixture of emotions.
I took my shot and even if it wasn't exactly a masterpiece of technique , i'm really attached to it.
I promise myself that sooner or later i would come back there with the right equipment:
four years later, I returned in this magic place to capture rialto's bridge as it deserves: This is my new shot :)
